Besides sticking us with some last minute expenses and doing a shoddy paint job, Wayne is a good guy. A very talented carpenter, fairly honest and Maddy absolutely loves him.
For awhile there, every night she would thank God for Wayne in her prayers. I told him that once and I could tell he was just tickled in his never-say-three-words-when-you-can-say-two sort-of-way.
Wayne started doing an attic addition to our house the last week in January. It was supposed to be done by April. It is now September 9th and the plumber is coming tomorrow to fix our shower....
But, we are almost there. On Saturday I hung up our clothes in a closet for the first time in seven months.
So mom, here are the pictures I promised I would send. The walls are still bare, but we are working on making our house actually cute.
This is part of our kitchen. There used to be a wall where the bar is now and that room had wood paneling and was painted a ghastly gray. An improvement, no?
This staircase is located in what used to be a coat closet and a master bedroom closet. There is built-in bookshelves on the top and bottom and they are my absolute favorite thing about the whole addition.
This is the new staircase, and a few pics of upstairs in its still bare glory.
When we get it decorated sometime next year I'll post pics and you can all admire our darling abode. So until then.

Oh my gosh Shelley - it's a different house. I bet you are so thrilled it's almost done. I'm in love with it already and you haven't even made it cute yet. We must come see it.
Wayne funny. Jonas has away of making people feel special too. He entertained three very old ladies at Subway yesterday. I love the built in bookselves too, very nice. Enjoy the space!
Thanks for the tour! You don't need to decorate -- it's lovely already. I love the bookcase and the beautiful wood. Looking forward to being there in person one of these days. Good job, Wayne!!! and Good job, Matthew & Shelley for your decisions. There are lots of decisions involved in building or remodelling. You passed the test! You have excellent taste! Love, Mom Mc
We love it. Taking out that wall really made a big difference in the kitchen and dining area. We like the colors. The bookcases were a great idea. We have more books for you here. Love, Mom and Dad
Looks SO great! I want to see it in person!
Um...does Madelaine miss me? Not that I am insecure or anything-
