I'm not sure what this is about.

I'm in Utah. I just got back from a wedding reception of a long ago friend who looked radiant. It was one of those backyard weddings where everything is a twinkle. An abundance of exotic cheeses. Chocolate drenched strawberries. A couple that looked like they just fit. Ben Harper and a fading, full-sky-ed sunset. It was just lovely.

After indulging in updates from old friends I got up to go home and got all the way to the car but couldn't quite get myself to move. I wanted to watch the lights spill all over the valley and miss Matt (who doesn't join me in the Beehive state until Friday. Why, oh why, does he have to work?).

I remember being little and driving home from my Grandma's at night and thinking that the lights pouring into view were a seperate place from any that I had ever been to. One that I would visit some day when I was older. Tonight I felt the thousand times I've watched the lights come on under a thousand different circumstances. And the truth is that I have found jack squat in NC as poignant to me as watching Salt Lake glitter.

And it is almost enough to make me want to live here.

Almost.

Sitting on Grandma Taylor's back porch and looking out over those lights. Why are they more sparkly in Utah? I feel you on this one.

I've always thought the lights looked like a treasure box left wide open. It was great to see you in Utah. Maddie and Matthew are both so cute.

Shelley! You're in Utah and haven't contacted the Stangers??!! If you have time, give us a jingle (or an email). Same Philly email and mobile phone #. Jenn Stanworth is here and Jenn Feldman is not far away also.

Jenn Stanger (3 Jenn's in the same comment. Ugh.)

So, I get that the Salt Lake City twinkle is more of a draw than everyday hanging out with lifetime best friends, but don't the two combined push it over the top?

Come home.

I loved having you here for two days.

It's funny how you have a thought and THEN read the other comments and find Rebecca saying what I was feeling. "Sitting on the folks porch at 1559 Cherokee Circle" -- the prettiest jewelry display under the moon. Thanks for reliving a sweet memory for me. Love, momMc@xoxox

Let's erase the almost from this and it would be perfect! Love, Mom
